TOS_"He Walked Among Us" (Unproduced) (Teleplay)
Teleplay by Norman Spinrad and Gene L. Coon
Story by Norman Spinard
First Draft: July 25, 1967
**According to Memory Alpha's "Unproduced TOS Episodes Page" (https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Undeveloped_Star_Trek:_The_Original_Series_episodes), Norman Spinrad was asked to prepare this script as a possible vehicle for Milton Berle as the episode's major guest star. Spinrad was unhappy that Gene L. Coon rewrote the teleplay as a comedy and asked Gene Roddenberry not produce it, saying "don't embarass [your] show by shooting this piece of shit" before washing his hands of it.**
**Fred Frieberger tried and failed to resurrect this script for TOS's 3rd season.**
**Norman Spinrad thought he had lost all copies of this script, but announced that he would make it available as an electronic book/download after a fan asked him to sign a copy at a 2012 convention. CBS, however, asserted copyright privilege, so Spinrad withdrew that version from electronic distribution and stopped it from being produced as an episode of the fan series Star Trek: New Voyages.""
